Anne Arundel Citizen Advisory Committee

The mission of the Anne Arundel Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC) is to represent the interests of parents and citizens to the Board of Education.

The CAC fielded a comprehensive survey designed to learn what improvements people want to see in our public schools in March/April 2011.  View the survey results here:

The CAC was using the results of this survey to choose several of the biggest problems to work on solving over the next year.  The CAC preliminarily choose to study these five issues:  large class sizes, bullying, science education, emphasis on test-taking, and the achievement gap where minorities are not achieving at the same level as Caucasian students.

CAC's Structure

Despite concerns raised by the CAC membership, the Board of Education disbanded the current CAC and changed its structure from a grassroots organization to one where they hand-select 29 members of the Executive Committee in September 2011.  Make Maryland Great's President decided not to apply to be a member of the new CAC.  Joanna plans to work on educational initiatives through other vehicles.
