Thank you very much for your interest in helping Mayor Cheye Calvo protect our liberties!  We would really appreciate your help in any of the following areas:

• Citizen Outreach:  Help us by spreading the word about the increasing use of SWAT teams for routine policing actions and their dangers to innocent families.  We might ask you to write your legislator, attend a press conference or rally, host a house party, or just talk to your friends about the need to better protect our civil liberties.

• Policy Research and Development:  How do we develop legislation that will better protect innocent citizens from SWAT team raids while continuing to allow the use of such raids when they are truly necessary to protect our police officers?  Join a small team of dedicated researchers, legal experts, and policy-makers working with Cheye Calvo to research the status of laws around the country and develop appropriate legislation to be introduced either state-by-state or at the federal level.  We are particularly interested in having retired police officers and judges join our task force so we can develop balanced legislative proposals.
   
• Fund-Raising:  Help us raise money for potential political advocacy and lobbying expenses involved in raising awareness of this problem and supporting the passage of appropriate legislation.
   
• Administrative:  Help Cheye manage the outpouring of support he is receiving by periodically doing data entry or other administrative tasks.  Almost all anticipated  administrative tasks can be done from home, although we will also have occasional needs for other kinds of help such as delivering information to legislators.
