Plant Trees
In addition to adding to the beauty of your yard, planting trees offers many environmental benefits. Not only do trees help absorb stormwater runoff, they also absorb nitrogen dioxide from the air. Grown trees are also likely to decrease your electricity consumption by providing cooling in the summer months and breaking the wind in the winter season. Planting trees is truly a wonderful thing to do!
The State of Maryland is so convinced of the tremendous impact that trees have on environment that Governor O'Malley has set a goal of planting one million trees through 2011. As part of this, he has created a program called Marylanders Plant Trees that gives you a $25 discount on any trees costing $50 or more that you purchase at participating nurseries through November 30, 2009. Download your coupon and after you plant the trees, register them at www.trees.maryland.gov.
